This year Parallel is once again participating in Vancouver's annual CANstruction event. In partnership with S Architecture there is a sculpture of cans planned for construction at the end of April. All food cans used then go to the Vancouver Food Bank.
This year Parallel was a part of the CanPHI Passive House Pavilion at Buildex. We would like to send a big “thank you” to everyone who dropped by and showed interest in our booth and in Passive House building standards.
Our Structural Engineer, Bengt Jansson, has branched out on his own and will no longer operate under Parallel Consulting Engineers Ltd. His new company’s name is Jansson Structural Consulting Ltd.
Malcolm Cairns has completed the Certified Passive House Design Course with Canadian Passive House Institution (CanPHI). Passive House is a rigorous approach to constructing buildings that reduces heating and cooling fuel consumption by 80–90%.
For the fifth year in a row, Parallel has participated in the “Canstruction” event being organized by the Vancouver Foodbank and the Vancouver Sun. This year we teamed up with Edith Cavell Elementary School and the Vancouver Sun to build a sculpture out of cans.
This year, Malcolm and Ryan at Parallel will be participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, and are raising funds for the BC Cancer Foundation. Last year this event raised a total of $11.1 Million, the largest single fundraising event in BC history!
For the third year Parallel has participated in the CANstruction event taking place at the Vancouver Convention Center. This year we paired with Maple Leaf Foods, who generously provided all the cans for our structure as well as some enthusiastic builders.
