This year Parallel is once again participating in Vancouver's annual CANstruction event.
Malcolm Cairns has completed the Certified Passive House Design Course with Canadian Passive House Institution (CanPHI). Passive House is a rigorous approach to constructing buildings that reduces heating and cooling fuel consumption by 80–90%. With heating and cooling representing 75–85% of the environmental lifecycle impact of a building, an increase in Passive House construction would positively impact climate change. The term “Passive House” can be misleading, as this exciting building technology goes beyond the residential and extends into commercial and industrial buildings. At Parallel, we look forward to the prospect of implementing these technologies into our designs, and we are currently seeking clients who want to build Passive House certified buildings.
